Cyclepsycho's Yamaha Chopper Project:

Custom built exhaust pipes

I got this great idea to build exhaust pipes that looked like old machine gun barrels
with the heat shields on them  I figured I could make them from scratch, and since I'm a cheap bastard
and have access to all kinds of  electrical conduit, I figured I'd try and use that to make my pipes

I used regular EMT thin wall electrical conduit as well as a couple of  stem nuts from a
Yamaha triple tree to hold the "inner barrel" in the "outer barrel" as well
as providing some baffle for a little back pressure.
Yes, that was a hell of a lot of holes to drill!

I also picked up some muffler reducers from the auto parts place
for $1.25 each and cut them down a little.  These hold the inner tube to the
outer heat shield.

A little welding and some BBQ paint and we are ready to go....

The bike's not really ready for them, but I wanted to see what they would look like
so I slipped them on the stock head pipes and attached it to the frame with a velcro strap
I use to hold my extension cord together with just to get an idea what they will look like
when I finish the bike.

Not bad, for $5 worth of muffler reducers and some conduit and nuts I had sitting around.

I can dig it!
